“Ondrej Rudavský is one of the exceptionally creative figures of the international art scene. He is a type of cultural nomad who uninhibitedly crosses the boundaries of space and time, cultures and civilizations, artistic styles and artistic genres, and often combines seemingly incompatible elements in his work. The exceptional artistic and creative background of his family, oriented towards the culture of the nation and its spiritual legacy, and later the dynamics and wild spontaneity of the artistic environment of New York and Los Angeles, imprinted a permanent and inimitable seal of authenticity and exclusivity on his authorial expression and style.
Ondrej Rudavský is truly a multimedia creator, and the exceptionality of his expression lies in the originality with which he combines original classical filmmaking and other artistic techniques with the latest technologies and audiovisual procedures. In his work, fantasy and reality intertwine, magical mystery and exact materiality, statics and balance with dynamic movement, and the result is always fascinating. Each of his paintings, films, sculptures, and installations contains a story full of symbols and metaphors, hidden messages and references that stir our imagination and force us to go back in time and discover the long-forgotten.
Ondrej Rudavský's flat compositions, three-dimensional objects, and movement sequences are full of life and dynamics. They depict surreal stories with many mysteries and metaphors, multilayered and multi-meaningful, experienced in multiple spatial planes, in different worlds and galaxies full of props, evoking endless paths, celestial elevators, and diverse constructions.
Ondrej Rudavský is a vital figuralist who moves the actors of his works from the real world to the world of fantasy and poetic imagination. His characters - people, mythical deities, aliens and visitors from other galaxies, but also mythical creatures and beasts and unknown objects - balance and float in mysterious space, walk or run in crowds along endless paths of labyrinths and spirals, get lost in the distance of unknown dimensions, only to return again in the eternal cycle of history. It is an interweaving of diverse worlds. On the one hand, the Universe as a large mechanical machine, kept in constant motion, over which cosmic shamans and celestial guardians watch, on the other, the microcosm as a cluster of molecules and a mysterious primordial matter, from which life emerged at the behest of the Creator. A space full of symbols, codes and secret signs, inviting chosen observers of time, dream and desire hunters, but also players of the great cosmic game.
The work of Ondrej Rudavský - his films, clips, installations and large-scale archival prints, which he completes with a brush, pen, collage and plastic, often moving elements and mechanisms - is characterized by the solemn and even magnificent narrative of scenes, costumes and props. The author is a believer in the cult of the human body, the elegance of movements and poses, ingenious color and lighting effects. Everything is thought out and elaborated in detail and it does not matter whether it is a simple white figure, a richly decorated costume, an anonymous hood or a golden mask worthy of Tutankhamun.
Knowledge of various artistic techniques and their nuances, but above all immense skill, creativity and talent, together with infinite imagination, allow Ondrej Rudavský to reveal to viewers the dimensions of new spaces, uncover ancient secrets, and even suggest possible visions of the future through his works.”

“We were from the same country, we studied in the same art school in Prague, but we met for the first time in the gritty New York of the 80’s.
I met lots of artists through my life but Ondrej doesn’t cease to amaze me with his rediscovery of the new ways how to present his talent and magical art.”
